The Sportsman’s Soaring Program (SSP) is a non-competetive, task oriented program. The program was started to fill a need in the soaring community for such a program. Started in April 2009, the SSP is growing fast as word gets out of it’s existence. Whether you don’t have any contests in your area or simply do not have the desire to compete, the SSP will give structure to your flying sessions. The program consists of three parts. The main part consists of three levels that will challenge you and help you develop your skills as a r/c soaring pilot. It uses a “this or that” style to let you do it as thermal duration, slope or a combination of both. The next two parts are advanced thermal duration and advanced slope. Advanced slope is currently under developement. These are type specific. Each consisting of three levels. However you may do the thermal duration program and the slope program at the same time. You may also choose to do only one of the programs, either the thermal one or the slope one. It doesn’t matter as they’re completely independent of each other. Doing this allows you to actually complete the program completely as a thermal or a slope program or both. This allows for quite a bit of diversity to the program. The main program is geared towards the new or casual flyer. The advanced parts are geared towards those looking for a longer term program. They require higher flight times and more difficult task sets to be done. All three parts of the program will make you a better pilot. How involved you wish the program to get is up to you. So whether you’re looking for a casual way to add some structure to your flying sessions or a long term program that will set you apart from the crowd.

The Sportsman’s Soaring Program has something for you.
